Aaron Hughes Appointed to SentinelOne Board of Directors
Private and Public Sector Cybersecurity Leader Joins SentinelOne Board to Further Public Sector Market Penetration and Enhance Cultural Inclusion
Mountain View, Calif. – May 26, 2021 – SentinelOne, the autonomous cybersecurity platform company, today announced the appointment of Aaron Hughes to its board of directors.
Mr. Hughes brings over 25 years of experience leading technology and information security programs in the public and private sector. Hughes currently serves as Group Vice President and CISO for Albertsons Companies, where he’s responsible for securing the infrastructure, digital assets, and payments for more than 2,200 retail locations across the U.S. Previously, Hughes was Vice President for Information Security and Deputy CISO at Capital One. In addition to his full-time civilian employment, Hughes is a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve, currently serving as a Senior Advisor to the Commander at USCYBERCOM. As part of his public sector experience, Hughes served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy under the Obama administration, where he led the development and implementation of cyber policies, strategies, operations, and plans for all Department of Defense (DoD) efforts in cyberspace.
“The SolarWinds attack campaign demonstrated the public and private sector are more intertwined than ever before. When the consequences of a cyber attack have the potential to impact national security, it’s hard to overstate the importance of ensuring businesses and federal agencies have the necessary technology to prevent and remediate these attacks,” said Tomer Weingarten, Co-founder and CEO, SentinelOne. “Aaron’s experience as a cybersecurity executive across financial and retail industries, coupled with his intimate knowledge of the public sector, will be critical assets.”
As a SentinelOne board member, Hughes will share his diverse experience to enhance the Singularity XDR Platform and collaborate with executive leadership on public sector defense to further market traction in the space. In addition, Hughes will continue his longstanding commitment to STEM education and diversity in the workforce, and will partner with leadership to advance cultural maturity and grow representation of talented technologists from under-represented groups.
“Cybersecurity has evolved significantly throughout my career – from the increasingly interconnectedness of network systems, to the economy’s reliance on the stability of the internet and the necessity of strong connections between public and private sectors,” said Hughes. “It’s clear that SentinelOne’s differentiated technology is purpose built for allowing large organizations and federal agencies to autonomously defend themselves against today’s sophisticated attacks, thus contributing to a more secure world. I look forward to bringing my experience as a cybersecurity leader to SentinelOne to not only enhance the company’s offerings, but to further its culture and diversity programs as well.”
SentinelOne is one of cybersecurity’s most promising privately-held companies. The company’s AI-powered XDR platform continuously evolves to proactively secure against advanced threats like DarkSide, which caused massive disruption to Colonial Pipeline.
